Its Spring Time in the Desert and I wish I could bottle up the smell of warm air and blossoms.
When we first moved back to the valley I was two things happy Jake had work and very sad that it was in the desert! What can I say I am a mountain girl through and through I missed the cool fresh air, pine trees and starry skies at night!
I still miss those things even now, I don't think that will ever change. I remember telling My parents last summer how much I HATE the desert and how miserable and ugly it is and that I would never love it or even like it. Well I think you cold say I have had a Mighty change of Heart!
The past several weeks maybe months I am not sure I have seen and realized the beauty that surrounds me here in the Valley of the Sun! The funny thing is that this is not a new discovery for me these are things that I have always loved and new were beautiful I just think this time it really has sunk into my heart and I can honestly say I love it down here and I am Happy to be here in this beautiful desert city. Don't be fooled there are still ugly things about the "city" but I choose to look past those things and Find the Beauty that surrounds me every day and the wonderful opportunities I have for my Family down here!
I found Some Pictures of the things I Love here in the desertFirst is Palm Trees they always remind me of summer and Tropical Islands
Second is the smell of spring and New Blossoms on orange and Citrus Trees I could sit and smell for hours!
I Love the Rain wherever I am But there is something about a desert rainstorm the smell the clean feeling everything I wish we had more of these storms
Of course the Lighting storms go hand in hand with the rainstorms. About two years ago we were driving to Sandiego we had just left the valley and it was late in the evening There was the coolest lighting storm just outside of the valley I have never seen anything like it I will never forget it!

"Life is beautiful when you make the effort to find beauty in it. In some of the most materially deprived parts of the world, I have seen the sunrise in all of its splendor and heard birds joyously welcoming a new day. I have seen beauty reflected in a small pot of flowers by a humble shelter or in the shy, beaming grin of a child at play, intent on discovering the world around him.
You can become depressed if all of your interests are focused on the media with its explicit details of the most worrisome world events. With care you can find much to reverently appreciate in this world Father in Heaven has given you"

i love this post nicole. so you're going to laugh at me but i had these similar feelings just about moving to heber when matt and i got married. not so much the surroundings, but the lack of familiarity for me i think. now i am falling in love with heber. silly that i should still have dreams of moving to show low again one day...but i know i could be content here too. :) oh and i love the citrus blossoms. that is one thing i miss about living down there. yum. and i wish i would have been there for danny's talk. we were in the valley all weekend...
HEY GIRL I JUST WANTED TO SING.... HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO NICOOOOOLLLLLEEEEE HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TOOOOOO OOOOOO OOOOOOO YOU!! (IN MY BEST SINGING VOICE EVER I THINK I SEE TAY COVERING HER EARS LOL) LOVE YOU!
I love this post! I've never loved the look of the valley, I'd way rather be in the mountains. But yet, I love the valley! You pinpointed a couple of reasons that I might not have been able to come up with on my own, but that I do love! Another one is the smell of fresh cut bermuda grass in March. Love it. I'm glad you've settled in and learned to love some thing about the ugly desert. :)
