I am sure that those of you who have connections to Heber have already heard about my Great Grandmothers House Burning to the ground. What a Horrible day it was for the family and most of all for my Granny who has lived in this house for many many years. Last week My Granny's house Burned completely to the ground. Nothing is left piles and piles of memories and silly things are all gone. Her Mothers Grandfather clock that is easily over 50 years old is gone the rooster lamp is gone(My family knows what a tragedy that is wink wink) There wasn't a single thing in that house that didn't have a spacial or funny story behind it. My Granny is the Queen of genealogy and the piles of pictures and notes of some distant relative she had finally found are all gone. She put much love and hard work into that home for many years. The blessing in all this is that She was not harmed physically nor was anyone else. Although all of the tangible memories are gone we still all have the ones in our hearts forever. My Mom said while they were going through the piles of ashes left trying to find anything they could, All she could keep saying is positive things never feeling sorry for herself, just looking for the good like I sure am glad I didn't pay to have the roof re roofed before this happened. or if this had to happen then I sure am glad I didn't get this fixed or that fixed. She has been smiling and happy through it all sad that all her belongings are gone but Happy because she still has the Gospel her family and that's all she needs! A few days after this had all happened Wendy Hall a close family friend who I just have to say is super woman!! Accomplished one of the greatest acts of service I have ever seen even though to you all it may seem like something so small it was great in my eyes. Wendy After delivering Three Babies on Friday Drove to visit my granny at My Aunt Karla's house were she will be living now. After visiting her she went home grabbed some things from her attic to give to granny and then headed back into town to buy her new silver wear. Brought them back then went back to town and got her new sheets and blankets and some other things she needed Brought them back to my Granny that very same night. She noticed my granny wasn't feeling well so she ran to her office got her a shot and brought it back to my mom who was with my granny and instructed her on how to give it to her. Then before she left she said well I will be back tomorrow to check on you. I am sure you are all aware that Wendy just within the last few weeks lost a grand baby. And just weeks later is back to delivering babies and making sure that others are being taken care of in their time of need.
I have been feeling sorry for myself lately for reasons that seem so ridiculous right now. And After seeing all of this happen over the last week I had to really sit back and think Why am I feeling so sorry for myself here are these great women who are showing such courage and strength and service and I guess its because they get the big picture. And some how I lost that big picture for awhile. I just pray that I can be a little more like my granny and always being optimistic no matter what trial we are faced to overcome and more like Wendy and learn to give service to those in need more then myself.

I am so sorry to hear about your Grannys House that is a terrible thing to have happened and what an amazing woman for being so positive.
I feel so bad for your Grandma, I can remember being in her home many times. I can only imagine. So sorry..
I love Heber folks for reasons like you said..Wendy is amazing and so sweet and your Grandma would do the same for anyone! She is such an awesome lady! She was a great example as my leader in my teen years..strong lady!
I'm so sad to hear about your granny's house- I can't even imagine what that would be like to lose all of those sentimental belongings. I think we can all use reminders every now and then that there are always people out there with trials worse than our own.
Yeah, we hear also about it and knew that your granny had alot of sentimental things like family history and Heber history. How amazing it was that no one was hurt. Definitely a blessing.
Oh, Nicole I am so sorry to hear that. Fires are so devestating, but she sounds like her heart is in the rights spot. Heber really is a great place isn't it!
